Paley Wholesale Hay & Shavings, established in the 1930s by Sol Paley and his family, originally focused on cattle farming. Sol's sons, Hymie and Mickey, grew up immersed in this rural setting, reminiscent of a Huck and Finn lifestyle. Over time, they shifted the business focus towards selling hay and shavings, which became the primary business activity in the 1960s. Eventually, the company transitioned from family ownership, being handed down to outside family investors.

It eventually came under the ownership of long term employee Bryan and his wife Gayle McDermott; marking a new chapter in the company's history.
